Finally here !!!!!!!
Well I finally made it to the "Couver" as we call it. I made it out on the 3rd of Aug. What a trip it was a great day blue sky and a few clouds at our place. The chopper arrived about 10 am and off we went. As we headed south the trip was smooth and where lucky enough to see humpback whales as well. The pilot was great in pointing them out to us as we flew over.
Once we reached Egg Island and dropped off a few things the clouds where low so we ended up going over them. It was like flying over the top of a large layer of marshmallows with the mountain tops popping up through it every once and a while. As we climbed higher and higher to where one could almost touch the tops, you noticed the small lakes with a very thin layer of ice and the snow that was left in the mountain tree slides where full of snow which clung to them like cookies on a untreated cookie sheet. Then all of a sudden we dropped and it was blue skies once again and miles and miles of ocean.
We finally ended up at a one of the lights down south called Entrance Island nice but a bit baren for me. And then it was off to the main Coast Guard Base in Victoria so lovely a flight. As we fly there the pilot was able to show me another lighthouse I had never seen before called Trial Island it was so lovely. Beautifully kept and the houses white and red, there was a large patio that went all the way around the main house, which was the one that is on the point of the lsland and gets the brunt of the winds, for me that would not be a bad thing as it would bring up the ocean and the wave action. Then at 3:15 pm ish we landedin Victoria. From there I got a bus and then a ferry ride to Vancouver where I met my very good and wonderful friends here where I am lucky enough to stay. They have always been very generous in having me stay here and do not seem to mind that I stay sometimes a month. We have know each other for some 14 yrs and that in itself in this life time is a forver thing. Most of us have aquaintaces but not friends. Well off to see about what is up for tomorrow so later from the Couver... smile
